The Lococo House Story by Rhona

Lococo House I, II and III have all been dreams come true for my husband and me. I first saw the Bed & Breakfast concept in London, England in 1985, I was on my way to Tunisia and had a two day lay-over in London. I fell in love with the cozy, warm atmosphere of the local Bed & Breakfasts there. The personal attention and local knowledge shared by my Bed & Breakfast hosts was comforting to travelers like me in unfamiliar lands!

Being in the hotel and food service business all my life and getting tired of corporate bureaucrats, I fell in love with the simple uncomplicated Bed & Breakfast lifestyle and became determined to go into the business upon my return to the states.

Shortly after returning from overseas, Leo and I purchased an old officer's quarters in Jefferson Barracks (an historic military base just south of Saint Louis) that was the beginning of Lococo House. We initially offered three bedrooms and we truly enjoyed meeting and caring for our many guests and running the new exciting business.

In 1991 our grown children Lenny & his wife Dolores found an old historic brick home in St. Charles MO that they thought would make a perfect Bed & Breakfast and Lococo House II was born! Lenny & Dolores ran Lococo House II for three years until their two daughters became teenagers, at that point Leo and I moved to St. Charles to run Lococo House II and our children moved eight houses up the street to finish raising their daughters in a more private setting. We sold the original Lococo House in Jefferson barracks and concentrated on Lococo House II for the next 15 years.

In mid September 2009 we moved to Lococo House III (just next door to Lococo House II) and will continue to house guests from down the street to around the world. We love meeting interesting people with interesting stories to tell. We love caring for our guests and and making their stay in St Charles MO a memorable occasion.

So come and see us at the new Lococo House III, enjoy the quiet, cozy atmosphere still just blocks from historic Main St, St Charles MO and minutes away from St Louis and all the exciting destinations.
